Nail Polish Tag

1.) What is your favorite nail polish company?
OPI is my favorite!  I like Essie but as mentioned, some Essie nail polishes streak!  OPI has a better consistency, big brush, great color selection, and I love when they come out with new collections.

2.) Glitter or no glitter?
I love sparkle anything! I use glitter to accent a nail on each hand or I wear it all nails for special events.  I also use glitter for ombre nails.  One of my favorite glitter nail polishes, which I am almost out of, is Teenage Dream - OPI - Katey Perry collection.

3.) OPI, China Glaze or Essie?
OPI, hands down, then Essie, then China Glaze.  I only own For Audry by China Glaze, which is awesome but I do not like their packaging, it is kinda bulky.

4.)  When do you change your nail polish?
I have to change my nail polish every three days because that is when my nails start looking run down, paint is chipping and my nails need to be filed.  I do not use a base coat if that has anything to do with it.  I love fresh nails.  With my most recent manicure for St. Patrick's day, my nails are looking amazing, no chips, still shiny, and its been three full days! Manicures are great when your hands need extra TLC around the cuticle area!

5.) what is your favorite color on you nails?
I love bright colors so I will pick a blue or fusia.  Essie's bachelorette bash and OPI's Suzi Says Feng Shui.  I also love L'Oreal Paris' Owl's Night, it is a grey/green color with specks of gold, gorgeous for the fall!

6.) Darks or Brights?
I go with the season, I love darks in the Fall and love, love, love neon brights in the spring!

7.) What are you wearing on your nails right now?
I am wearing a green color from OPI and gold glitter on the ring fingers.  While I was choosing a color for a manicure there where two green colors, Don't Mess With OPI, which I have so I chose the one that was a little lighter.  I do not know the name but will say it looks great against my skin, better the the Don't Mess with OPI!  With the gold glitter, AWESOME combination!

8.) Matte Nailes -- In or Out?
Out, I have actually never used a matte nail polish, would be hard to use a top coat.

9.) French manicure?
Rarely, I like them with gel nails.  French pedicure, YES!

10.) Favorite winter color?
L'Oreal Paris - Night own or Chanel - Blue Satin.

Book review: Skinny Bitch

It's been almost two months since I stopped drinking caffeine.  Thanks to reading Skinny Bitch by R. Freedman & K. Barnouin while on vacation I cut caffeine out of my diet.  It was a health decision, not one to actually turn into a skinny bitch.  While it actually has not been too difficult, I will admit I miss diet coke or liquid satin the most.  I substituted coffee for herbal decaffeinated tea which I feel so content with because it's great for you.  I will say that I mostly drink water, sometimes orange juice.  Fortunately, my body requires a lot of water so I can drink a lot of it with out a problem.  There have been a couple of days where it was necessary to turn to coffee but instead I just dragged or should have a hot chocolate instead.

The author's of Skinny Bitch say to cut out caffeine for a many reasons:

  • Diet soda has aspartame, BAD!  When paired with carbs it slows down the production of serotohin, need to be happy
  • Caffeine raises stress hormone levels
  • Better to drink water because it keeps your body clean and detoxified
  • Drink caffeine-free herbal tea - organic decaf green tea!
Additional key Skinny Bitch guidelines
  • It's a good idea to trade beer (bloat) for organic red wine produced without sulfates
  • 20 minutes of cardio a day, 5 days a week then gradually add more time and strength training (work out in the mornings)
  • Stay clear of shitty carbs: white flour, white pasta, white rice, and white sugar, all BAD!
  • Choose fabulous complex carbs: potatoes, beans, yams, hummus, lentiles
  • Eat fruit on an empty stomach, 1st meal of the day and wait 30 minutes before eating
  • Sugar substitute: Use Stevia!  All natural, derived form a plant in Paraguay
  • Eat organic fruits and vegetables because they carry more enzymes than those treated with pesticides and grown in chemically treated soil
  • Enzymes packed: pineapples, papayas, bananas & mango
  • Remember: Packed juices has been pasteurized & heat destroys enzymes so juice yourself!
Vegetarian substitutes:
  • Eat soy products that imitate meat products at www.vegieworld.com
  • Get calcium from: fortified grains, kale, collard greens, cabbage, kelp, seaweed, chickpeas, broccoli, red beans, soybeans, tofu, and raw nuts
  • Milk substitute: Rice Dream, avoid substitutes that contain sugar
  • Butter substitute: Earth Balance Natural Buttery Spread or Soy Garden Natural Buttery Spread
  • Ice cream: Soy Delicious
  • Protein: Lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, fruit/veggies, whole grains, and soy products
  • Omega-3 & Omega-6: olive oil, sesame oil raw nuts & seeds, and avocados
  • Cheese: Find casein free cheese because it's an addictive and is loaded in cheese. Heart's Vegan Gourmet cheese
  • Fish like nutrients can be found: flax seeds, pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower seeds.  Also, nuts, soy beans, fruit, veggies, greens, soy products & whole grains

Wish List

It's February and I am over the deep red lip and am lusting over pink!

This H&M Blazer for $49.95 would be perfect this month! Imagine it with MAC's lipstick in creamcup or Lancome's Rouge in Love in #307B.

Then there is Niki Minaj's Viva Glam lipstick that is due to come out February 15th.  I think I may fall in love with the spring pink!

This Tiffany & Co coffee mug for $35 is what I am going to purchase the next time I am in New York, at their flag ship store on 5th Ave!

I will die for these heart spoons for $36 by Alessi at www.thecurrentcustom.com
